The brain is an association drawing MACHINE. This is life-saving and life-preserving. Usually.
However, like many of the other mechanisms of the brain, this function can be hijacked by a nervous system sensitized by stress and trauma.
If you have good evidence that your physical conditions are mind-body in nature, attempting to draw associations between every stimuli that is potentially triggering symptoms in your body— is a mind trap!
I did it for years, as it was the only way I knew to try and find safety for my seemingly very sensitive body- in this very harsh world. (It didn’t work)
However- so many of the associations I drew were false, shifting, not always connected….and worst than all— BECAME true because my brain now anticipated that response from the stimuli.
Associations can look like this:
-I eat X food = I get X response
-I do X activity = I get X response
-I take/don’t take this medicine= I get X response
-I take/don’t take X supplement= I get X response
-I leave the house= I get X response
-I spend time in the sun= I get X response
-I travel= I get X response
-I exercise= I get X response
-I sleep/don’t sleep= I get X response…..
Because of the nature of the brain, the attempt to continually try to draw associations between a whole combination of choices, will inevitably cause misfiring, AND inaccurate associations.
